Why this Presentation: As many of my friends and family know my son marched in the Inaugural Parade with his school's JROTC group. I was faced with the paramount decision of cheering him on versus joining the protests, with which I find much solidarity.
I was fortunately able to do both. I am proud of my son, his school and what they represent. Yet I am torn by the irrationality, insanity, and inhumane situation we find ourselves regarding not only the war in Iraq, but also the absence of a socially conscious domestic agenda.
So, on to the parade we went.
Little did I know that since we did not contribute financially to this event I would be dumped in the 'undesirable corral' along with all those other peons that just wanted to be part of the parade but did not feel compelled to pay the price... (As a matter of record: All printed material said there would be 10 entry points for people that had not paid for tickets - there were three.)
What I experienced left me no doubt that this whole event was purely a 'show' which had no more intention of being opened to the public than the Oscars or MTV Music Awards. Under the guise of 'security' the participation of John Doe & Juana Garcia was severely limited.... The mainstream media just opted out totally and completely from reporting this; instead, the vast majority of the mainstream media chose to portray the event as a 'popular event' where 'the American public' was given the opportunity to celebrate or commemorate the event... That was just not the case... enJoy...
